Nuclear engineers work in an environment with its own safety culture. Every change is assessed, documented and approved before it is carried out, and the evidence is just as much part of the work as the technical solution.
More about this
In Switzerland the focus is on operating the existing plants, backfitting, interim storage and, increasingly, preparing decommissioning and dismantling. Day-to-day work covers safety analyses, radiation protection, material behaviour under irradiation, maintenance planning and cooperation with the regulatory authority. In addition there are subject areas that are rare elsewhere: ageing management, waste treatment, dismantling in controlled zones. What is expected is diligence, resilience in dealing with extensive regulations and often a security clearance. People from this discipline are used to justifying decisions in writing and disclosing assumptions instead of making them tacitly. This way of working is also in demand in other regulated industries, such as medical technology or aviation. Through try&hire you first watch a video profile, hold an introductory meeting and then work together. The engineers are employed via staff leasing; salary and insurance run through us. After a few months, both sides decide whether a permanent position follows.
