Jobs as Mechatronics engineer
Mechatronics engineers work where mechanics, electronics and software cannot be neatly separated. They design devices and assemblies as a whole, make the trade-offs between the three domains and are often the ones who find a problem that belongs to no single discipline. In Switzerland this is a highly sought-after combination, because many products are small, precise and densely packed. Day-to-day work covers concept work, the design of drives and sensors, prototype builds, measurement and troubleshooting across domain boundaries. A typical role is that of translator between teams: the software is waiting for the hardware, the mechanics have used up a tolerance, and someone has to bring both together. Common are CAD and E-CAD tools, simulation, microcontroller and control technology, and laboratory work. A good sign is when someone has taken a device from the idea through to small-series production. With try&hire you watch a video profile, talk for thirty minutes and then work together. The engineers are employed via staff leasing. After a few months, both sides decide on a permanent position – you based on the collaboration, the engineers based on the tasks, the team and the leadership.
