Jobs as Building services engineer (HVAC)

Building services engineers bring heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing and electrical systems together in one building. They calculate loads, size systems, plan distribution and oversee execution and commissioning. In Switzerland strict energy regulations, Minergie requirements and high expectations of comfort come together – and building owners pay attention to operation, not just to the investment. Day-to-day work is heavily about coordination. Building services clash with everything: with the structure, with the architecture, with the fit-out. A large part of the work consists of securing space, routes and interfaces early and keeping operation in mind. Commissioning with balancing and adjustment is the moment when the planning proves itself – or does not. Common are design and simulation tools, BIM, building automation and knowledge of the relevant SIA standards. Through try&hire you watch a video profile, hold a thirty-minute introductory meeting and then work together. The engineers are employed via staff leasing. After a few months, both sides decide whether a permanent position follows.
