Jobs as Energy & grid engineer

Energy and grid engineers plan and operate what brings electricity and heat to where they are needed. They calculate load flows, plan substations and connections, design protection concepts and oversee the connection of new generation plants. In Switzerland hydropower, a dense distribution network and the growing share of photovoltaics come together – along with grid operators that are often organised at cantonal or municipal level. Day-to-day work ranges from the study through detailed planning to commissioning. A growing part of the work consists of operating a grid that was no longer built for today’s generation structure: feed-in, storage, charging infrastructure and flexibility are changing the design assumptions. Common are network calculation software, protection technology, medium- and high-voltage engineering and knowledge of grid connection requirements. With try&hire you watch a video profile, talk for thirty minutes and then work together. The engineers are employed via staff leasing; salary and insurance run through us. After a few months, both sides decide on a permanent position – you based on the collaboration, the engineers based on the tasks and the team.
