Jobs as Industrial engineer (lean, production planning)
Industrial engineers shape how things are produced. They analyse workflows, calculate cycle times and capacities, set up lines and workstations and introduce improvements that also hold up in everyday operation. In Switzerland they often work in plants with high labour costs and small batch sizes – which means that changeover times, material flow and scrap weigh more heavily than unit costs alone. Day-to-day work is half analysis and half persuasion. A value stream analysis is done quickly; pushing through a change in running production without turning the people on site against you is the real part of the job. Good engineers measure before, measure after and talk to the people standing at the machine. Common are Lean methods, Six Sigma with Green or Black Belt, value stream analysis, material flow simulation and SAP knowledge in PP or PM. With try&hire you watch a video profile, talk for thirty minutes and then work together. The engineers are employed via staff leasing; salary and insurance run through us. After a few months, both sides decide on a permanent position. Until then, you see on the shop floor how someone works.
