Jobs as Mechanical engineer

Mechanical engineers design, calculate and get assemblies running. In Switzerland they work more often than average on special-purpose machines and small series: on filling and packaging lines, on machine tools, on devices for medical technology. Volume is rarely the argument; precision and service life are. Day-to-day work ranges from the concept sketch through the design of drives, bearings and frames to supporting the first build. On top of that come calculation and simulation, coordination with electrical and control engineering, and a large share of conversations with manufacturing: what can be produced as drawn, and what cannot. Anyone who has been doing this for a few years knows the difference between a drawing that is correct and one that can actually be built. Common tools are SolidWorks, Inventor, NX or Creo, along with FEM calculations and tolerance analyses. For you as a company, the hard selection criteria are usually: which assemblies has someone been responsible for, how deep does the calculation go, and how closely did they work with manufacturing. Through try&hire you first watch a short video profile and hold a thirty-minute introductory meeting. If it is right for both sides, an assignment via staff leasing follows: the engineers are employed, and salary and insurance run through us. After three to six months, both sides decide whether a permanent position follows.
