Jobs as Welding engineer
Welding engineers are responsible for what you can no longer see in a component later on. They select processes and filler materials, draw up and qualify welding procedure specifications, oversee inspections and stand behind the work when a customer or an inspection body demands evidence. In Switzerland this applies to steel and plant construction as well as to pressure equipment, apparatus engineering and rolling stock. Day-to-day work consists of procedure qualifications, welder qualifications, acceptance inspections and the assessment of imperfections – plus the question of whether a design is suitable for welding at all. Much of it is conversation: with manufacturing, with quality assurance, with external bodies. Relevant qualifications are IWE or SFI, along with experience with EN 1090, ISO 3834, ISO 9606 and non-destructive testing methods. Whether someone has actually taken a production operation through an audit is the question that tells you the most. Through try&hire you first get to know these specialists by video and in conversation. This is followed by an assignment via staff leasing: employed from day one, salary and insurance through us, one invoice for you. After a few months, both sides decide whether a permanent position follows. Until then you see how someone works with your manufacturing team – and the engineers see whether your company is right for them.
