Jobs as Data engineer

Data engineers make sure data arrives reliably wherever someone wants to analyse it. They build pipelines from the machine or the business system through to the database and analysis, take care of formats, timestamps and outages, and answer the awkward question of why two reports show different figures. In Switzerland there is regularly the added requirement that data must not leave the country or a specific data centre. Day-to-day work is less glamorous than the environment suggests: connecting sources, cleansing, modelling, monitoring and recovery after failures. Good engineers build pipelines that do not need checking every morning and document where a metric comes from. Common are SQL, Python, Spark, dbt and Airflow, along with data warehouse and lakehouse environments and, in production, frequently OPC UA or MQTT as sources. With try&hire you watch a video profile, hold a thirty-minute introductory meeting and then work together. The engineers are employed via staff leasing; salary and insurance run through us. After a few months, both sides decide on a permanent position. Whether someone builds robust pipelines is something you see at the first outage – not in the CV.
