Jobs as Railway engineer

Railway engineers work on rolling stock, on signalling and train protection or on infrastructure – and usually on all three at once, because a train does not run without track and signals. Life cycles are long: a vehicle stays in service for thirty years and more, which is why spare parts availability and maintainability are considered as early as development. Switzerland operates one of the densest networks in Europe, with correspondingly tight timetables and little tolerance for disruptions. Day-to-day work covers the design and approval of vehicles and components, signalling, traction power supply, maintenance concepts and coordination with authorities and operators. Here too, providing evidence is a large part of the work. Common are the standards of the EN 50126 to 50129 series, EN 50128 for software, knowledge of train protection and ETCS, and experience with acceptance during live operation. Through try&hire you watch a video profile, hold an introductory meeting and then work together. The engineers are employed via staff leasing. After a few months, both sides decide whether a permanent position follows.
