Jobs as Machine learning & AI engineer
Machine learning and AI engineers bring models into production. The difference from research rarely lies in the model, but in everything around it: data quality, reproducibility, monitoring, handling drift and the question of what happens when a prediction is wrong. In Switzerland there are often additional requirements from data protection and regulated industries, and the proximity to universities leads to many projects with research-related origins. Typical industrial applications are machine vision in quality inspection, condition monitoring and failure prediction, optimisation of process parameters and analysis of measurement series. Day-to-day work consists largely of data work, experiment design and conversations with the specialists who know the process. Common are Python, PyTorch, scikit-learn, tools for versioning data and models, and experience with running models in production. Through try&hire you first watch a video profile, talk for thirty minutes and then work together. The engineers are employed via staff leasing. After a few months, both sides decide on a permanent position. The difference between a working prototype and a robust model becomes clearly visible during this time.
