Jobs as Automotive engineer
Switzerland has no vehicle assembly of any significance – and yet it has dense automotive expertise. It sits with suppliers of drives, sensors and power electronics, in prototype and motorsport engineering and in engineering firms that work for manufacturers abroad. People working here are rarely responsible for an entire vehicle, but often for a component that runs in millions of units. That shapes the work. Volumes are high, tolerances tight, and the customer brings their own requirements specification. A large part of day-to-day work is therefore providing evidence to that customer: test reports, approvals, sampling, responding to field findings. On top of that comes the shift towards electrification, which suddenly makes knowledge of batteries, vehicle electrical systems and power electronics more important than classic engine experience. Common are ISO 26262 and AUTOSAR, CAN networks, simulation, test bench technology and measurement data analysis. Through try&hire you watch a video profile, hold a thirty-minute introductory meeting and then work together. The engineers are employed via staff leasing; salary and insurance run through us. After a few months, both sides decide on a permanent position. For project-driven development this is practical, because you can link an assignment to a development stage.
